CARMA Update Underway

After a three year hiatus, the CARMA global power plant emissions database is now undergoing a major upgrade. We are presently compiling a range of new datasets and revamping techniques for estimating the emissions and electricity production of the world’s power plants.

For the time being, there will be no change to the data on the site, which remains unchanged from the CARMA 2.0 release in August, 2008. Our hope is to make the upgraded database public within six months.

Check back with the CARMA blog for updates as the new database comes together.

This sites is very instrasting & also helpful for measuring of CO2 level in the world due to major power plant on the earth.

This is excellent news! The recent ORNL report has raised awareness and we need updated CARMA data to target the best opportunities for emissions reductions. Report linked below.

At last! and thank you for the efforts – this is really appreciated as I use the database to calculate average emission factors in various countries where we have offices. Will this also include units such as CO2e/Kg or kg/KWh instead of lbs/MWh (Intensity factor), ie. metric units?

Thanks again!

Pieter — Glad to hear the update will be useful. And yes, we will be switching to metric units…

Hi Kevin – any update on ETA? Still six months out? Or sooner? Like yesterday! ;-)

This listing is very useful. Can you include the fuel type for each power plant in your data base.
